The technology used in hifu procedure is similar to directing sunrays on a particular place using a magnifying glass.  One of the reasons why this procedure is considered one of the most effective in the treatment of prostate cancer is because it can be monitored as it progresses by the doctor to ensure every cancerous tumor is eliminated.  The doctor is able to direct the rays to the affected parts only and no other part can be affected by this procedure. Other healthy cells bordering the affected part cannot be destroyed when hifu treatment is administered to prostate cancer patients. The procedure only takes a short time and therefore one does not need to remain in hospital before or after the procedure. One can have the procedure performed on the same day they come to hospital. One is given one or two hours to rest after the procedure after which they are allowed to go home. The procedure is considered one of the most effective because it comes with fewer side effects.  Side effects such as erectile dysfunction which are associated with other prostate cancer treatment do not occur when hifu procedure is used. This is because it does not destroy healthy cells adjacent to the affected parts. The procedure does not involve surgery and therefore healing takes place fast. One can go back to their normal lives a few days after treatment
